Due to my pre-clampsia my blood pressure needed to be taken every 30 minutes, the position I was in on the bed was giving a really high reading so the midwife asked me to change positions and sit on the side of the bed. I spent a lot of time moving around though the last part of my labour I spent on the bed on my hands and knees, at this point my contractions did not have a rise and fall, I did not get a break in between until I was ready to push. One of my wishes on my birth plan was no pain relief, so during labour I used the following techniques to deal with pain, breathing techniques, water immersion from the shower, tens machine (I personally didn’t use this for long as I didn’t find it that beneficial) and a comb to grip (I highly recommend this, I held onto it until literally after I gave birth). I was checked again roughly 3 hrs after the drip was attached, this time I didn’t want to know my progression as the first time made me quite emotional, however I was later told after birth that I was 5 cm at that point. Joel and Kylie were nothing less then perfect throughout my whole labour. The contractions were strong and regular but unfortunately after the 4 hrs I had not progressed past 2 cm dilation, the drip was attached and ramped up very quickly not long after. My partner Joel and I discussed it with our doula Kylie and agreed to let them medically induce me, as I had already started having mild contractions, the midwife gave me 4 hours to hopefully progress naturally with no syntocinon. There was no protein however the bloods came back that I had very high levels in my liver and the dr diagnosed me with pre-clampsia, they highly recommended I get induced that day for the safety of me and baby. The third sweep was successful in starting contractions, though due to my swelling and fluid + an abnormally high blood pressure they wanted to do a blood test and check for protein in my urine. I had 3 stretch and sweeps, the first one I was advised that my cervix was soft and thinned out with babies head engaged, the second one I was told that the cervix wasn’t thinned out and no progress had been made, as I declined induction again I was sent for an ultrasound to ensure my placenta and baby were okay, they were. I was spoken to about induction at 41 + 3 and happily declined knowing both baby girl and I were healthy and happy to wait it out.
I had severe swelling and fluid for majority of my 3rd trimester, though no other complications or indications that I had anything medically wrong so testing or diagnosis wasn’t given. On Saturday at 42 weeks pregnant I arrived to Goldcoast Uni Hospital at 8am for a stretch and sweep, not intending to have my baby girl that day. This is a good position for clitoral stimulation (and whilst female orgasms aren’t essential for conception, they’re fun.Birth Story 🫶 I had decided early on in pregnancy that I would not agree to a medical induction unless it was 100% medically needed no matter how far over Milas “due date” I went. The male partner lies behind in a spoon-shaped cuddle.
This, too, allows for deeper penetration that is close to the cervix. The woman holds herself up with her hands, her partner stands behind her, lifts her legs, wraps them around his thighs or waist and enters her. Wheelbarrow: The wheelbarrow position demands the female partner has some strength.Some people don’t like the lack of eye contact that comes with this position but it’s a good one for both of you to control the rhythm and depth (unless you’re totally out-of-sync, in which case this position can have you collapsing in giggles on the bed).
Face your partner (cowgirl) or face away (reverse cowgirl) so you can both explore different sensations. Woman on top: When a woman’s on top, she has more control of the depth (and speed) of penetration.Good old-fashioned missionary: Look lovingly into each other’s eyes, no need to reshuffle after male ejaculation, prop your bum up with a cushion or hook your legs over your partner’s shoulders for deeper penetration.
